You are invited to help me process my 40th birthday!
(it can’t be possible, surely?!).
Join me for an evening of music and merriment on Saturday 1st December from 7pm at the Norfolk Arms.
RSVP below, and if you are travelling a distance or fancy joining for some more fun activities during the day, read on.
Date: Saturday 1st December, 7pm
Location: Norfolk Arms, 2 Ringinglow Village, Sheffield
Dress code: glad rags
By car: S11 7TU in your sat nav. There is parking at the pub.
By public transport: Get the train to Sheffield station and then hop on the number 4 bus to the bus stop called ‘opposite Norfolk Arms’.
Accommodation: There are a number of rooms available at the pub, check out their website to book. Alternatively there are plenty of B&B’s, AirBnB’s and hotels in Sheffield City Centre, further out into the peaks (i.e. Hathersage or similar) or in the surrounding areas (i.e. Fulwood or Broomhill). For those happy to slum it, I have a number of spare beds, sofa beds and mattresses at my place. Let me know when you RSVP.
If you’re around and would like to join, please do (and let me know when you RSVP).
From 8am: Breakfast at Casa Kate in Walkley.
Hipster smoothies or a bowl of porridge. Yum.
10am/10.30am: Out on the bikes/feet.
We will be going cycling and walking on the Saturday morning.
Cycling: Those of us who enjoy squeezing ourselves into lycra will leave 33 Walkley Street at 10am and aim to pick up others at the Norfolk Arms at 10.30am. We’ll be on road bikes, but if you’d like to join and have a hybrid you are most welcome. We don’t intend to take it at a very speedy pace (unless there are enough of us to split into two groups in which case we’ll pace them accordingly).
We’ll do approximately 40 miles aiming for Castleton and Winnats Pass at some point (I will NOT be cycling up it but I will buy a drink for anyone who does). We’ll come back via Calver Craft Shop where we’ll meet the walkers for lunch.
Walking: Walkers, there are a variety of options for walks from different places. We can arrange this based on numbers and appetite for length of walk. Either way we’ll meet at Calver Craft Shop for lunch.
At Derbyshire Craft Centre, Calver.
We’ll meet at the Norfolk Arms car park at 3.15 to go down to the Alpaca Farm.
From 5pm: Dinner at the Norfolk Arms.
Evening food is available from the pub. We’ll be eating there and you’re most welcome to join us. However, I’ll also be running around sorting stuff for the party, so you may not have my undivided attention!
We’re at that ‘time of life’ now that a lot of us come with kids attached. Sooooo, not wanting you, or your partner to miss out on the fun, kids are very much welcome (plus, I quite like the kids too!).
During the day, the walk and lunch will be fun for them I’m sure and in the afternoon there is the small matter of an alpaca farm which is for kids, big and small (i.e. I’m totally going).
In the evening, kids are very much welcome. But, knowing that bedtimes are a little earlier than the rest of ours, I’ve booked out two bedrooms at the pub. Depending on numbers and what people want, we’ll have one bedroom for actual sleeping and one bedroom for having some sleep-over fun and I’ll make sure there are a variety of adults on rotation. As the rooms are very close to the room we shall be partying in you can leave your precious ones there, or not. Depending on how you, and they, feel. Just let me know if you’re interested in using this option when you RSVP.
